Topic for Fall, 2010: CSCI 401: Directed Individual Study - Pattern Recognition and the Stock Market (1) This directed study completes a cursory view of the statistical inference and pattern recognition algorithms of seminal Pattern Classification book by uda/Hart/Stork. Topics covered include Bayesian inference, neural networks and support vector machines. Throughout, we’ll discuss and validate the application of said techniques to historical stock market data and to a virtual portfolio in real time. Stough.
