The history of World Civilization to 1660 is a survey course which examines the development of civilization from antiquity in the Ancient Near East during the 4th millennium B.C., to the scientific revolution in Western Europe during the mid-17th century A.D. Special emphasis is placed upon the cultural achievements of Greece and Rome during classical antiquity, upon Latin Christendom during the Middle Ages, and upon the Age of the Renaissance and the Reformation in Western Europe.
