Description: This class is designed for students to examine the contributions of classical and contemporary sociological theory. A goal of the class is for students to gain an understanding of theory as an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena. Another goal of this class is for students to have an introduction to some of the main structural, philosophical, and thematic issues important to the field of Sociology.
