As composer of a series of innovative Broadway musicals, including West Side Story (1957), he also challenged the status quo. Explores Bernstein's career in the round, looking at concurrent cultural patterns. Special focus on his relationship to mass media. Course includes an opportunity to dance to the choreography of Jerome Robbins.
