Uses economic theory to analyze important issues facing firms, and examines the practical challenges of empirical applications of theory. Topics include horizontal relationships and mergers, vertical integration and control through contractual arrangements, price discrimination, information and search costs, innovation and intellectual property rights, and network externalities. Each topic combines theoretical analysis with a study of actual firm behavior.
