Introduces survey of the major literary trends (romanticism, realism and existentialism) and writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Students become acquainted with prominent writers of the period such as Beauvoir, Chateaubriand, Hugo, Balzac, Flaubert, Proust, Camus and Sartre. Note: May be taken before or after FREN 3112. Prereq: FREN 2120 or permission of instructor.
