Description:
Addresses the role of the early childhood practitioner in supporting young children emotional well-being and mental health. Topics include mental health disturbances or disorders of infancy or childhood, assessment of social or emotional development and behaviors related to mental health, relationship-based strategies for working with children with emotional and behavioral needs, and identification of community resources and services. Prereq: Students are encouraged to take ECED 5202 prior to this course for a specialization in early childhood mental health, however this is not an absolute prerequisite.
