Provides a broad exposure to the basic concepts and methodologies of bioinformatics and their application to analyzing genomic and proteomic data. Topics may include dynamic programming algorithms, graph theoretic techniques, hidden Markov models, phylogenetic trees, RNA/protein structure prediction and microarray analysis. Prereq: CSCI 1410 and MATH 3195 or 3191. Cross-listed with MATH 4788, PHYS 4788.
