Provides exposure to empirical research methods involved in communication and technical communication research: surveys, experimental design, meta-analysis, case study, ethnography, textual analysis, and process tracing. Basic quantitative data analysis methods (correlation, chi-square, t-tests, and analysis of variance) are introduced. Prereq: COMM 5405 and 5505 or permission of instructor.
