Provides hands-on experiences in molecular biology and an appreciation for using the tools of molecular biology to study biological systems. Emphasis is placed on DNA cloning, PCR, mutagenesis and protein purification techniques. Experimental design and the theories underlying the techniques are also discussed. Prereq: Graduate standing or permission of instructor. Cross-listed with BIOL 4125.
