Description:
Provides hands-on experiences in molecular biology and an appreciation for using the tools of molecular biology to study biological systems. Emphasis is placed on DNA cloning, PCR, mutagenesis and protein purification techniques. Experimental design and the theories underlying the techniques are also discussed. Prereq: General microbiology with a grade of ā€œCā€ or higher and molecular biology, either introductory or advanced, with a grade of ā€œCā€ (2.0) or higher; concurrent registration in molecular biology accepted. Cross-listed with BIOL 5125.
