This course provides an introduction to the general pirnciples of analysis in the natural and physical sciences. As such, it will servie as a valuable preparation for undergraduate research in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or any science. Several common types of instrumentation will be used to support the analysis of samples. Students will gain proficiency in the fundamentals of the measurement process, including smaple preparation, the use of negative and postive controls, and the attendant reliability and uncertainity of such measurements. An introduction to formal Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) will also be addressed. Lecture 3 hours, lab 3 hours PRQ: Chem 106 Classified : T Meets: NO.
