Junior level theory/clinical course focusing on the nursing care needs of women across the lifespan and care of the mother/baby dyad in clinical and community settings. Emphasis is placed on the physiologic and psychosocial adaptations that occur in women from adolescence through older adulthood. The impact of pregnancy and childbirth is highlighted. Health promotion of the mother/baby dyad and the developing family is emphasized. Gynecologic topics and the impact of gender on selected disorders are discussed. Nursing care, health policy, cultural, and ethical factors which impact the health of women and newborns are examined
