A study of the most fundamental aspects of chemistry. The first semester focuses on quantum mechanics and spectroscopy. Topics include the Schrdinger equation, atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The second semester focuses on thermodynamics and kinetics. Topics include the properties of gases, partition functions, the laws of thermodynamics, the Maxwell relations, equilibria, and molecular dynamics.
