Uncovering the Truth in History & World Events, Book & Video Series is a group of classes offered through the Community Education Department at Ivy Tech Community College that are designed to both entertain and enlighten people who are interested in learning more about politics, history, psychology and sociology but are either not wanting the traditional format or remember, from their own educational experiences, just how uninspiring high school and college survey classes were. Making use of modern scholarly work, popular television & movies, and a variety of other sources, in a classroom setting of lecture and discussion (heavy on the discussion), and an environment that promotes free thought, free speech and mutual respect for various opinions, attitudes and belief systems, the series is designed to expose students to a new way of learning and sharing ideas. Methods that not only promote and encourage self learning, but open mindedness and an understanding that our differences are what make the world a special place rather than being justification for hatred, racism and intolerance.
