Nursing 232 continues to help the student develop proficiency in the use of the nursing process by utilizing nursing concepts related to interferences with basic needs. Previously learned concepts are expanded and interruptions of basic needs leading to illness of a more complex nature are identified. Progressing from infancy to senescence, an individual experiences many common and recurring stressors. NUR 232 focuses on nursing care requirements relative to interruptions in oxygenation, circulation, mobility, neurological regulation, genitourinary elimination and regulation, sensory perception and communication. Additional complex technical skills are learned. Principles of rehabilitation and health teaching are integrated throughout the course. The student has the opportunity to function as a leader in a group composed of peers and to provide care to individuals and groups of patients using the nursing process. Beginning management and organizational skills learned in Nursing 234 are applied to assist in the transition from student to graduate nurse. Prerequisite: NUR 231A & B and NUR 212.
