This humanities elective offers an introduction to the Latin language and ancient Roman culture. This course will emphasize Latin grammar and syntax, Latin vocabulary and the English words derived from them, common Latin phrases used in English, and Roman history and culture, including some mythology. Emphasis will be placed on the translation and reading of Latin. A small emphasis will be placed on conversational Latin. Prerequisites: none. 3 cr. 3 lec. (Per Departmental Standards Version of LAT 121, approved by Academic Affairs on 05/14/2009).
