This humanities course is the second half of a 2-semester sequence that continues the development from GER 122 of the four basic skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing with an emphasis on communication in German. Student participation in this course will be entirely in German. A study of German cultures and customs continues to be developed in this course. GER 122 is a prerequisite (with a grade of "C" or better strongly recommended) for successful completion of this course. New students should have completed a least four years of high school German and have scored 85% or better on the New York State Regents Exam. This course is open to native speakers. This course satisfies a SUNY General Education learning outcome. Some work that students do in this course (tests, papers, projects) may be retained by Jefferson Community College in order to demonstrate to SUNY overall levels of student achievement for General Education. Prerequisite: GER 122, or its equivalent or permission of the instructor. At the discretion of the instructor, a placement test may be administered to assess the student's level of proficiency. Three Lecture Hours, 3 Credit hours. AAC approved 09/25/2008.
