Exercises to develop competence in basic laboratory techniques including proper methods of collecting, organizing and handling of data are introduced. The development of written communication skills and laboratory preparation techniques are emphasized. Experiments are quantitatively oriented with considerable use of unknowns. Lecture topics such as stoichiometry, thermochemistry, chemical bonding and behavior of gases are reinforced through experimental applications. This course is offered only on demand and is limited to students enrolled in Empire State College. Permission to enroll must be granted by the Associate Dean for Math/Science. 1 cr. 3 Lec./Lab.
