Learn how to interpret and understand film in a friendly environment. We will screen and analyze films as a class. The class will provide an introductory lesson on film including plot, character, symbolism, imagery, lighting, sound, camera shots and angles, as well as a brief overview of context and critical approaches. Then the class will screen the films and apply their understanding to several contemporary films which may include: District 9, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, No Country for Old Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, American Beauty, Iron Man, with the final choices being determined by the class as a whole.
