Critical inquiry into how education, through citizenship preparation, has been seen by liberal, conservative, and socialist philosophers as resolving social crises. Particular attention to eras of extreme social crisis such as Great Depression and recent decades. Use of popular literature and source documents to relate educational prescriptions to current topics in education. Prerequisites: SR ONLY & T2 CRSE IN SOCIAL SCIENCES Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken an unlimited number of times, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
