Using a broad social science perspective, the course will examine the causes, consequences, and nature of war and various proposals to prevent war. Contributions of social scientists, philosophers, writers, and professional soldiers to an understanding of the social phenomena of war and peace will be reviewed and assessed. Prerequisites: SR ONLY & SOC 101 Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken an unlimited number of times, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
