Examines the role played by emotion in our private as well as our public lives. A review of various theories regarding the nature of emotion is presented, followed by discussions of the nature, acquisition, and maintenance of power as well as the uses of power and the relationships between power and emotion. The last section of this course is concerned with the relationship between gender and power, gender and emotion, and how these two broad areas dovetail, providing an explanation of the role of emotion in our everyday public and private lives. Prerequisites: SR ONLY & ANTH 101 OR SOC 101 OR PSY 101 Credit Hours: 4 General Education Code: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken an unlimited number of times, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
