This course is designed to introduce students to a sociological perspective on the importance and impact of the court system in American society. We will examine the court’s structural and cultural features as well as how court officials create and move cases through to various institutional outcomes. Prerequisites: 12 HRS SOC INCL 101 Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken one time excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Note: Effective Summer Quarter 2010-11 (June 2011) any non-repeatable course may be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
