Traditional dances of Africa. Students will learn to recognize movements, rhythms, songs, instruments, and paraphernalia by country and selected ethnic groups through a practical and theoretical approach. Course will explore intermediate African dance movements coming from ceremonial dances, focusing on facial expressions, meaning, and execution of movement. Four (4) different dance types from four (4) different ethnic groups will be learned. Prerequisites: DANC 154 & DANCE MAJOR OR MINOR Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6 hours.
