Traditional dances of Africa. This is the second course in the series of African dance technique. Students will learn to recognize movements, rhythms, songs, instruments and paraphernalia by country and selected ethnic groups through a practical and theoretical approach. It will explore intermediate African dance movements coming from ceremonial dances, focusing on facial expressions, meaning and execution of movement. Over the course of 10 weeks, students will learn approximately 4 different types of dance types from 4 different ethnic groups. Prior experience in African dance or DANC 120D is recommended. Prerequisites: DANC 120D Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6 hours.
