This course will use a mechanistic approach to elaborate upon topics first introduced in CHE 210/211 and will include the fundamentals of physical organic chemistry, the chemistry of reactive intrermediates and modern techniques used to study organic reaction mechanisms. Particular emphasis will be placed on the relationship between reaction dynamics and steric, electronic, solvent and isotope effects.
