This course will explore multicultural issues in counseling and clinical psychology. The central focus for this course will be ethnic and racial diversity, although attention will be given to gender, sexual orientation, age and socio-economic status as they relate to issues of diversity in counseling. Students will gain an appreciation of the complexities of the influence of culture on social, emotional, behavioral and cognitive development, and the major issues involved in assessment and treatment of diverse clients and their families.
