An intermediate language course in ancient Greek designed to increase the students' ability to read Greek with accuracy and speed and improve their skill in comprehension and translation. A wide range of reading selections of Greek prose and poetry will serve as the basis for translation, class discussion, and written assignments. Although the course includes a partial review of accidence and syntax as well as assigned translations from English to Greek, primary emphasis will be placed upon reading and translating Greek texts, whether prose (e.g., Xenophon, Herodotus, Lysias, Plato) or poetry (e.g., Euripides, Aristophanes).
