Since the mid-1800s Vienna has been one of the greatest musical centers of the world. This course will offer a musical/historical study of the great composers who lived and worked in the city, including Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, the Strauss family, Brahms, Mahler, Richard Strauss, Schonberg, Berg and Webern. Attendance at concerts and operas and visits to museums and historical sites will illuminate the links between the past and the present musical life of Vienna.
