An examination of the influence of global, remote, and industrial environmental characteristics upon policy-making and administration of organizations. Emphasis is placed upon the gathering and analysis of information from a wide variety of sources dealing with external factors such as political, economic, social, ethical, and cultural issues affecting the business enterprise. This first phase of strategic management is later considered against an internal analysis of the business firm's strengths and weaknesses. The strategic management process is completed during the "Strategic Management - Application" course.
