An introduction to the applications of animal science for students training to become classroom agriculture teachers. The student will gain "hands on" experience in agriculture education animal husbandry practices in the classroom and field conditions. The student will be exposed to various aspects of applied cropping techniques such as seed preparation, soil conditioning, pest management, harvesting techniques, post-harvest handling, and marketing; thus complementing the classroom learning previously acquired. Emphasis will be put on field visits to row crop operations, introductions to precision farming techniques, environmental regulations and nutrient run-off abatement, harvesting operations, and post-harvest handling facilities. Students will keep a journal and build a photo essay for presentation of their experiences. Prerequisite or co-requisite: AGB 110.
