A study of the application of basic sciences - animal genetics, physiology, nutrition and disease control to improve dairy, livestock and poultry production, processing, waste management and merchandising. Fundamental principles of animal management; contributions of animals and animal products to humanity; application of science to animal production; issues regarding animal production and the environment to include air and water quality issues. Basic principles of inheritance in plants and animals of agricultural significance. Emphasis on transmission genetics and its effects on the usefullness of plants and animals. Introduction to basic principles of plant and animal improvement. Type A Animal Waste Management System Operator Certification Training and AI Certification offered. lecture 3 hours, Lab 1 hour.
