Examines the implications of modern financial theory for various decisions faced by corporate financial managers. The concept of NPV, suitably adjusted to account for taxes, uncertainty, and strategic concerns, is used to analyze how investment and financing decisions interact to affect firm value. Topics include valuation, capital budgeting, capital structure, the cost of capital, Islamic Finance, and payout. Theory, empirical evidence, and case analysis all play significant roles in the course. Case analysis allows students to apply their knowledge of theory and evidence to real-world situations.
