During the last decade, cell, molecular, and neurobiological investigations have dramatically advanced our understanding of reproduction. In this course, we aim to focus on these recent findings to present an integrated view of the reproductive process in males and females. The general areas to be covered include neuroendocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, gametogenesis, and fertilization, although recent studies in areas such as gene regulation; intercellular communication; hormones, growth factors and signaling; and early development and differentiation are emphasized.
