Description:
Prerequisites: MUSI 131, 132, 134 and 135. This course examines the integration of music in worship throughout history. Students explore the centrality of Old and New Testament scripture in leading and planning worship and analyze Christian worship practices from the New Testament times to the present. Special attention will be given to the role and use of music within the context of worship events. Current worship planning and leading practices as well as future trends will be examined for strengths and weaknesses. Through analysis and reflection, students will develop and present a personal philosophy of music and worship leadership.
