Prerequisites: Completion of all 300 level HEAL courses (grade of āCā or better) and SOCI 312 (grade of āCā or better). The course provides the student with an overview of the etiological theories as well as the biological, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse in contemporary society. Current approaches to identification, treatment and prevention of drug abuse/chemical dependency are analyzed with an emphasis on effective educational approaches and prevention programs that address the problems of use and abuse. This course cannot be challenged.
