Description:
Prerequisites: Completion of all 200 level HEAL courses (grade of “C” or better) and KINE 201 (grade of “C” or better); Pre/Corequisites: BIOL 345 (grade of “C” or better) and HEAL 260 or other approved growth and development course (grade of “C” or better). The course provides the student with an introduction to the profession and practice of health education and promotion. The historical, theoretical and philosophical foundations of health and health promotion will be explored. An overview of social, cultural, and physical environmental factors which influence perceptions of health will be presented. Students will be exposed to responsibilities and opportunities within the field of health promotion. This course cannot be challenged.
