This pre-service orientation symposium is designed for students eligible for the Type I Alternative License. Typically the symposium will be offered during the third session of the MAT Summer Semester. In order to enroll, students must present an "Intent to Hire" form from a school system or private school. School Practitioners and scholars in the field of education will be invited to discuss a myriad of topics. These topics will focus on the Tennessee Professional Education Core Competencies, specifically, (1) Discipline taught (2) student learning & development (3) diverse learners (4) Teaching strategies. A fee for mentoring will be assessed each semester.
