Topics include electromagnetic theory; Maxwell?s equations; the absorptive and emissive properties of the earth-atmosphere system; the scattering properties of the atmosphere, including Mie scattering, calculations of forward radiative transfer and inversion of radiation measurements. P: Two semesters of calculus.
