Introduction to the physical processes of radiation and the theory of radiative transfer through the atmosphere, including definitions, basic radiation laws, absorption, emission, and scattering processes; the radiative transfer equation; and simple solutions. Applied to visible, infrared and microwave radiation, with special emphasis on providing the background necessary for understanding theory and techniques of remote sensing.
