This course is an in-depth journey into the history of our employment laws, an analysis of current laws, and an overview of trends. Students learn how to apply the principles of law to the factual situations encountered by managers on a daily basis. Topics such as discrimination, privacy, employee selection and testing, and workplace safety are covered. Students design policies and procedures, investigatory processes, and conflict resolution systems. The course also addresses the legal requirements of union environments. Students are constantly required to examine the conflict between legal and ethical decisions. Prereq: BUSI 6312
