The course presents the structure, replication, and properties of viruses. The molecular organization of the genomes of viruses will be analyzed. Current methods of recombinant DNA technology in the study of viruses will be presented. Applications of those technologies and their ethical and legal considerations will be discussed. The interaction of viruses with host immune systems will be presented. Chemotherapeutic treatment of viral infections and vaccination will be evaluated.
