Staff. Pre-requisite: PHYS 1210 and 1220, or 1310 and 1320, integral and differential calculus, PHYS 3630 recommended but not required. Geometrical, physical and quantum optics, with an emphasis on the classical electromagnetic aspects of optics pertaining to scattering, reflection, refraction, dispersion, polarization and interference. Applications to optical instruments, spectroscopy, interferometry, and Fourier optics.
