Staff. Between 1947 and 1960, a group of Bedouin shepherds found several clay jars containing ancient scrolls. The documents include copies of the Hebrew Bible, apocryphal works not belonging to the canonical tradition, and worksÂ" "pertaining to local religious sects. This course will investigate who wrote these scrolls and why, focusing on the texts themselves, the archaeological evidence from the site of Khirbet Qumran and selected secondary sources.Â" " (Same as JWST 425.)
