This course is an introduction to the major issues in the field of alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation, including etiology, models of recovery, and the biological and psychological consequences of substance abuse. Primary consideration is given to treatment issues; polyaddiction, specific detoxification methods; self-help programs; individual and group counseling; therapeutic community residencies; and family and other support groups. Prerequisites & Notes Junior or senior status.
