Computer Aided Manufacturing Pre: MET122, MET126, MAT132 Co: Presents an introduction to numerical control programming and its application to machine tools in manufacturing. Programming 2-axis and 3-axis drilling, milling and turning machines. Data interpolation and distribution, feed rate control, tool compensation and maintenance, fault detection, and economics will be discussed. An introduction to the use of a computer aided manufacturing software package to post process a drawn part into an executable program for a lathe is presented. Laboratory provides practice in programming a 2-axis machine. (3 hours of lecture, 2 hours of lab per week)
