Modern Islamic Literature Pre: CMP101, CMP104 or equivalent Co: In modern Islamic Literature online students read, interpret and discuss selected works of major writers of the modern Islamic world in translation. Some of the authors whose works will be studied are Yussef Idriss, Naguib Mahfouz, Ghassan Kanafani, Laila Baalbaki, Nawal Saadawi, and Sadeq Hedayat. Fulfills open, liberal arts, humanities, and advanced literature electives.
