ANTH 510. Archaeology of the Ancient Maya Development of the tropical Lowland Maya civilization in Mesoamerica from the origins of agriculture through the Spanish Conquest. Topics include the rise of divine kingship, the Maya calendar and hieroglyphic writing, interstate conflict and warfare, and Maya religion. Explores archaeological, ethno-historical, and linguistic data and accounts. Prerequisite: ANTH 103.
