Description:
Prerequisites: MUS 111/112, MUS 121/122. Students will master the Finale music notation software, including multiple methods of inputting data, building a full score, formatting and editing the score, and creating/extracting instrumental parts. Students will learn to convert Finale files to PDF, Aiff, WAV, and mp3 formats and will master the manipulation of tempo and dynamics for purposes of playback. Students will work with various microphones and pre-amps to learn the basic techniques of engineering the recording of live music and MIDI generated music to create Aiff, WAV, and mp3 sound recording files. All above-arrayed skills are aimed at readying the student for MUS 305 and the creation of a film score to be edited and synchronized to a student- created film.
